Why choose artisan soap over commerical soap?

NATURAL!

Artisan soaps are made from natural ingredients including plant extracts and oils, botanicals, essential oils, body safe/nontoxic fragrance oils, natural mica coloring found from minerals, while commercial soaps are not.

If you just look at the back of any commercial soap, you will see a laundry list of ingredients you do not recognize that contain harsh chemicals, skin drying detergents, with known carcinogenic ingredients- harmful to the skin, while artisan soaps have very no unrecognizable ingredients. Our first and main ingredient is a blend of natural plant oils and all bars are completely free of any toxic/ potentially harmful ingredients. Even my bars with glitter only have a small dusting on the top or outside and it is of cosmetic grade/ non toxic / biodegradable glitter.

BENEFICIAL!

The natural oils in artisan soaps contain many benefits to the skin for healing, softening, moisturizing, and safely cleansing. Depending on the oils and other natural ingredients added, such as other natural oils (hemp oil, rosehip oil), essential oils (lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, orange, peppermint, patchouli etc.), other natural ingredients- activated charcoal, spices, crystals), artisan soaps can be created to heal many different ailments and provide many benefits to both the body and mind. Just the amount of healthy plant oils and extra moisture improve skin's appearance to prevent signs of aging.

ANTIBACTERIAL!

In artisan soap, natural oils are used as the main ingredients. I use coconut, palm, and safflower oil. Each of these oils are known to have natural antibacterial properties. Nothing extra needs to be added to make them antibacterial. Also, essential oils are naturally antibacterial and are also used in artisan soap.

However, in commercial soap, they use a chemical called triclocarban to make the soap antibacterial, which is a potential carcinogen and is very drying causing cracked hands and skin.

MOISTURE!

Glycerin is an ingredient in soap that stays on the skin and attracts moisture from the air, keeping the skin moisturized. Handmade/ Artisan soaps contain Glycerin. The majority of commercial soaps remove Glycerin, leaving your skin feeling dry, stripped of natural skin oils, and itchy.

In some artisan soap, Glycerin can cause soap to "sweat" in fluctuating temperatures bc of the extra moisture, which is why they remove all of it in commercials, however I have found a blend that has the right amount of Glycerin but rarely sweats.

MULTIPURPOSE

Because of the natural moisture and antibacterial properties of the plant oils, artisan soap is safe for all skin types, all body parts, and is safe and beneficial for sensitive areas such as face as well as shaving.

It glides over the skin allowing moisture to glide your blade safely, so you can save money avoiding facewash and shaving cream, not getting cuts or rashes from the harsh detergents of commercial soaps.

You can also use it as hand soap or even as a natural air freshener in your closet or bathroom.

UNIQUE!

Artisan soaps are unique in design and scent and can be visually pleasing and festive to your experience.

Every artisan soap maker creates something completely unique compared to commercial soaps and other soap makers. You will feel luxurious and happy just looking at the designs that a single person handcrafted just for you! They are healthy works of art.

SCENT

Scent has been researched to be then most powerful of all the five senses and strongly connected to memory.

So whether using in the shower, tub, as a decorative hand soap, or in a drawer/closet as a clothing scenter, you can escape to anywhere and smell super delicious, tropical, fruity, oceany, fresh, nature/essential oil scented, flowery and beautiful with the unique scents that only artisan soaps offer because they are made with a variety of scent blends using essential oils, fragrance oils, or pure scents and blends that you would not find in commercial soaps.

You can choose a scent that will remind you of your favorite place, time of year, food, fruit, flower, essential oil, etc- and be taken back to that favorite thing, time or place and your endorphins will increase every time you shower.

Choose any bar and use it for a while every day, and you will forever remember the events of your life during that time when you stop using it, but then start using it again.

My seastar bar always reminds me of trips to the beach and I like to use it even in winter to keep away the winter blues and have a little shower vacation.

I also use my Sugarplum bar around Christmas and it has become a staple of Christmas season.

My fruity loopy bar brings back childhood memories of breakfast, I'm happy to revisit that anytime.

In contrast, commercial soaps contain heavily overly powerful harsh perfumes full of preservatives and unnatural ingredients or basic commercial scents smelling like basic powder/ deodorant. They can't really take you anywhere.

GIFTING AND DECORATION

Many artisan soap makers create theme soaps based on holidays and seasons, which are great if you are one of those people that deck out your house to match or just want a festive bar. My Halloween horror bars are perfect for spooky season. And I usually do Christmas ones too.

They also are great for gifting for any occasion as you can choose however many you want- just one, several of the same one or a whole theme box or mixed box of any amount. They are like a box of specialty cookie or cupcake boxes, only its soap! Bath sets are a number one go-to gift and an artisan soap box is a more unique specialty version.

SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESS!

Handmade soaps are made with delicacy, a lot of time, attention to detail, hours and years of trial, error, practice, and just downright passion for the art of it. They are not just cranked out of a factory. Knowing someone worked hard and put their heart into your product is a great feeling for both the customer and small business owner. You are making someone's dream come true. It is their dream job, sometimes only job, due to the need for flexibility due to caring for a sick parent, children or a chronic illness themselves. But many's salary is low and in the beginning, it is hard to even receive one if the business is slow. But they are doing it to afford to live and support families. So why not support small business owners rather than large corporations who do not need the money?

YOU NEED SOAP ANYWAY!

Anyone who bathes should be using soap to cleanse themselves. So if you are going to buy soap anyway, why not buy artisan soap that is healthier for your skin? Your skin is with you for life so taking care of it and spoiling it with nourishing completely safe and beneficial ingredients is worth it! It smells great, is beautiful, and is just as affordable as the potentially harmful detergent soap you would get at the store.

In a nutshell-

Artisan soaps contain natural oils and Glycerin that are very moisturizing and beneficial for the skin. They are completely safe, nontoxic and can be used everywhere for every skin type including children, and in different ways as a hand soap, face bar or as a shaving bar. They are gorgeous, smell amazing, and are supporting a small business and a family's livelihood. The colors do not bleed and they improve skins appearance and health, Once you go natural/ artisan, you'll never go back! :)
